Here are 5 things that I’m loving this month: 1. Avocados – I know; I know! Avocados do not seem very related to music, but I thought they were worthy to throw in the list. For one, I have been researching about the benefits of healthy fats and avocados are at the top of the list of healthy fats. And second, they have been on sale! Yay! What are your favorite ways to eat avocado? 2. The Olympics – I truly enjoy watching the Olympics. There is something about seeing people work hard and push themselves to limits that they did not think were possible. I may not be a Olympic diver or gymnast, but I can push myself to master a new skill or tackle a piece that seems intimidating. 3. MuseScore – This is a program for writing out music and it’s free! I have used it twice in the past month to quick type out a song and then printed it off. Someday, I would like my husband to teach me how to use Finale, similar software that you have to pay for, but for now, MuseScore gets the job done very nicely. 4. Coursea – Who doesn’t like free? Another violin teacher passed on the news that Coursea was offering a class on Teaching Violin and Viola. It has been a wonderful refresher for this teacher. There is nothing like sharpening your skills with a review of the basics. r5. Sales on books – I was so excited to find several books about teaching that I have been looking for on sale! Can’t wait to dig in and start reading!
