Studio Policies

Lessons
Attendance:
  • Students are expected to arrive punctually for their lessons. The lesson length will not be extended due to a student arriving late.
  • Students are expected to bring all materials assigned by the teacher to each lesson..
  • Parents of students under the age of 8 are encouraged to sit in the lesson and actively take notes, so they can help the student during at-home practice times.
  • Students and parents are required to give notice by the 15th of the current month before terminating lessons. If notice is not given by the 15th of the month, they will be responsible for paying the next month's tuition payment.

Missed lessons:
  • If a student misses a lesson, they will simply miss the benefit of that lesson. Remember that your tuition pays for far more than just lesson time with your child. You can opt to request a virtual lessons or simply call to talk about your child’s progress during your student's lesson time.
  • If a student will miss a lesson, as a courtesy, either the student or parent must text the teacher before the lesson to inform her of the missed lesson.

Expectations
  • Practice at home is the key to progress on the instrument. Regular practice is imperative to learn how to play proficiently.
  • Set a regular practice schedule at home, at least 10 minutes a day for at least 3 days a week, to see progress. More days of practice will lead to more progress.
  • Parents are asked to be actively involved in their child’s practicing times (if under middle-school age). Parents should guide the student in finding a time each day to practice.

Finances
  • Yearly tuition ensures that the teacher will be present to teach the number of weeks on the yearly calendar (August through May).
  • A $25 registration fee per student per year will be due with the first month’s payment (max fee of $60 per family). This fee reserves your spot in the studio and helps to cover the cost of recitals, games, apps, the music library, and more.
  • Lesson payments do not include music books, material or supply purchases, or instruments.
  • Payments are due in full on or before the 1st lesson of the month and will be late if not paid by the 10th of each month. A late payment fee of $10.00 will be charged if the amount is not paid in full by the 10th of the month.
  • Lessons will be terminated if a payment is not made within 3 weeks of the day it is due. The student is then responsible to pay for lessons through the month the termination takes place.

Communication
  • Students and parents are asked to be in regular contact with the teacher. Email or texting are the most efficient sources of communication. We do not answer phone calls during the lessons.

Performance
  • Students are encouraged to participate in the fall and spring recitals and other performance events as they arise.
